What this policy covers

This policy covers this website, citizenplaybook.com, and nothing else.

The Citizen Playbook app at citizenplaybook.app is separate software that works differently and has its own policy. If you are using the tools, read the App Privacy Policy instead. The book is a printed product and collects nothing.

This policy is published by Mike Webb, operating under the Citizen Playbook name.

What this website does not do

Most privacy policies open by listing what a site collects. This one is shorter than that, because the site is a set of plain pages.

• No contact form. There is nowhere on this site to type anything and send it. No form is connected.
• No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and no login.
• No payment processing. Nothing can be bought here.
• No analytics. No visitor measurement of any kind is installed.
• No advertising and no advertising network.
• No session replay or heatmap recording.
• No marketing cookies and no tracking cookies.
• No cookies set by this website at all. That is also why there is no cookie banner. There is nothing to consent to.

That describes how the site works today, and it is not a promise about the future. If a form, a newsletter, or a measurement tool is ever added, this page will be updated before that change goes live.

Fonts loaded from Google

The pages use two typefaces that are loaded from Google's font servers. Your browser asks Google for those files, which means Google receives that request. Google's privacy policy says it collects information about the interaction of browsers and devices with its services, including IP address and the date, time, and referring page. Serving the fonts from this site instead, so that no request goes to Google at all, is being considered before launch. If that happens, this section goes away.

Web hosting records

Any web host keeps a record of requests for the pages it serves, which normally includes an IP address, the page requested, and the time.

This site is served from a virtual private server operated by Mike Webb. How long those records are kept has not been set yet, and this section will say so plainly once it is.

Links to other websites

This site links out to other places, including the Citizen Playbook app, book retailers once they exist, and third-party policy pages. Those are run by other people under their own policies, and a link is not an endorsement. Links that leave this site say so in the link text.

Changes to this policy

This page will change if the website changes, and the effective date at the top will be updated when it does. The most likely change is the addition of a contact form, which would be the first time this website received anything you typed.
